Half a year down for our little one. This just gets more fun as each month goes by, even with a sick baby. All we’ve been doing is exchanging random illnesses since February. I think Mom and Dad have had it worse. Little Hay-Bug is much less bothered by it all. The poor little girl […]

The Family Fang was a bookclub pick that I surprisingly enjoyed. It offers a new perspective on art and is so outlandish that I was thoroughly entertained.
Five months down. Here’s the latest on Hay-Bug: It is so fun to think about all of Hailey’s mundane firsts and superlatives: the coldest day she’s ever experienced, her first fire drill, her first time getting kicked out of a bar, etc. All along, Dan and I have really had to resist the urge to […]
I read James Patterson’s Double Cross since I have this obsession with crime/serial killer books. But I’ve gotta say, I would much rather read something with a little more flair in the writing. Any recommendations on good crime reads? I have enjoyed the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series as well as Darkly Dreaming Dexter, […]
We are just loving this baby more and more each day. She is still the same happy, laid-back little girl. She is looking older and feeling bigger to us. She is rolling front to back and back to front here and there. She is gaining coordination in her hands, and that’s major for her since […]
Thank you to our families and to Hailey’s Godparents for making Hailey’s baptism weekend a joyful celebration! Hailey was an angel for the ceremony in her baptismal gown sewn by Grandma. The the fountain contained a splash of water from the Jordan River in Israel, courtesy of Godmama Marie and Grandma Ce Ce. The ceremony […]
Just finished listening to The Litigators by John Grisham. I enjoyed a classic John Grisham read. The main character was a really likeable guy, and sometimes it is just fun to read about nice characters.
Kratomas: It’s like Christmas, but celebrated with the Kratohwil’s a couple of days early. And Kratomas is a crazy fun time. Grandma Ce Ce and Gramps spoiled Hailey for her first Christmas, Dan prepared an awesome meal, and fun was had by all during a quality round of Cards Against Humanity.
Happy three months to Hailey! Things don’t seem entirely different than they did a month ago with the exception that I have gone back to work. More on that in another post, if I ever get to it. We have ourselves one happy baby! Hailey loves to smile is has learned to laugh. She does […]
We are so thankful for the many blessings this year has brought for our family. It goes without saying that we are thankful for the arrival and health of our first child. We cannot express just how much we love her and love our new life with her. Despite a big bump in the road, […]
I just read our 6 week post and can’t believe how much Hailey has changed since then. Metrics Weight: 10 lb. 2 oz., 45% Height: 22.75 in., 50 % Head Circumference: 15.25 in., 50% Little Hailey is one smiley baby. We are happy that she is happy and pretty easy-going. (Though it is notable that […]
I seem to be into popular trilogies right now since I just finished Catching Fire, the second Hunger Games book. It was really more of the same, which was entertaining, but not amazing. I’ll still read the third book someday though. It was interesting to learn that the author, Suzanne Collins, was also the writer […]
This has been a fun week for Miss Hailey! Links to Facebook videos we posted this week: Hanging out on her belly (6 weeks) Baby Squats (6 weeks) Hi! (7 weeks) More Hailey (7 weeks)
If you would have told me I wouldn’t even be able to keep up with the blog while home on maternity leave I would not have believed you. I can’t believe how much time it takes to take care of a little baby. I think I thought they slept a lot more, or at least […]
I finally finished the Millenium series. The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest was consistent with the first two books and finally tied everything together. I did most of this reading in the late hours of the night while trying to get Hailey to sleep. You know you’re hooked when the baby is obviously sleeping […]

Yes, everyone was correct: time flies like crazy! Here are some highlights from Hailey’s first month on the outside. Metrics Weight: 9 lb. 1oz., 50% Height: 21 in., 50% Head Circumference: 14.5 in., 50% Hailey loves to stretch. We know she has no idea what she is doing, and we swaddle her often so she […]
Good friends of ours lent us a few pregnancy and baby books, and I found two of them most helpful. I would love to hear what books, blogs, and magazines other moms use to learn about child development and parenting. On Becoming Baby Wise by Gary Ezzo taught me a couple key points. Keep your baby […]
