I am so lucky to have an awesome bunch of coworkers at Baptist. Lori was an awesome host for the girl-only shower on 8/3. And Derrick set up a fun lunch for the whole team, and even invited Dan. Thank you all for spoiling us!
Not much new this week. Just getting bigger and starting to make Dan do chores that require bending over a bunch. Dan has been really helpful!
This year, we mad our first trip to a Home-a-rama. And now, the home improvement itch has hit. Elaine commented that it was the closest thing that she’s come to actually shopping for a home. Which may be true. I had already purchased this house prior to her moving to Louisville. And who really shops […]
Did another two weeks really just go by? These two weeks really made me realize something: I am pregnant 🙂 I’ve really had this attitude of “Yes, I know I am growing a baby inside of me, but that doesn’t mean I can’t do x,” where x might be staying out at the bars in […]
Thank you, Irena for hosting a fabulous shower with my Louisville friends. And friends, thank you all for being a part of the celebration! I had a blast hanging out with the girls. You are all fabulous! We also enjoyed an awesome weekend with Dan’s parents. We dined at Captains Quarters, hung out at Johnny […]
From my childhood, I have memories of cookouts where a marinade similar to this was often used and the recipe closely guarded. Looking back on how much I enjoyed this, I attempted to recreate it. This is my version, satisfying my craving for the “secret chicken sauce”. There are two versions: one for the marinade, […]
As easy as it gets… mix all of the items in a bowl. Store in a sealed container. Should be ok for about 6 months. 4 Tbsp Brown sugar (pack it in there) 4 Tbsp Smoked Paprika 3 1/2 Tbsp Coarse Sea or Kosher salt 2 1/2 Tbsp Coarse Black Pepper 1 Tbsp Chilli Powder […]
Me: (looking at an empty bag of chocolate chips) Did you eat this whole bag? Wife: “No.” Me: “The bag is empty.” Wife: “Yeah, I ate it.” Wife: (belches) “It was the baby!” Wife: “Today, my shoes are in the bathtub. And my other pair, in the shower, of course.” (Spoken as if this was […]
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot is an excellent nonfiction read. I recommend the audio book.
Thank you to all my loved ones for an outstanding baby shower! Boy did we get spoiled! Not only did we get to outfit our nursery and home with tons of baby stuff, but I got to see so many friends and family members at one delightful “picnic.” It was such a treat. We are […]
It seems another couple of weeks have gone by and I barely noticed. Our little baby girl is getting bigger. I guess that’s what little babies in the womb do…. ….And they also give you awful indigestion. I am learning how to eat smaller portions, eat far in advance of lying down for the night, […]
Happy anniversary to my amazing husband! These two years have been the best start to a lifetime with you. Can’t wait for you to become a Dad in year #3!
Lot’s going on around the house and in my head about this baby girl the past couple of weeks. First, we are more focused on the household preparations. Dan did some garage sale-ing and picked up a changing table and a bouncy seat. Mom gave us all of my old baby clothes. They are so classic […]
I decided to pick up a book about child rearing since I guess I will be rearing a child soon enough. Nuture Shock was a random pick since it was available from the library as an audio book. This book is in the style of Malcolm Gladwell, but much more applicable to life right now. […]
Can’t believe this baby girl is 24 weeks already! Here’s what’s going on in her world: She is moving more and more. I got to see my bump move on it’s own this week. Crazy! She makes so many random people happy. It’s amazing how many random people talk to me and how many normally […]
Let me tell you, Nashville is a lot different when experienced with child as opposed to with a desire to drink bourbon and dance your heart out. Thankfully, it is a blast either way. I travelled to Nashville to celebrate Heather’s 30th in style. These girls know how to do it up right, and this […]
My perception is that the bump gotten much bigger this week. As Dan puts it, “Baby got big!” I have really enjoyed feeling our little baby girl move on a regular basis, and Dan even felt her once too. I think I feel truly pregnant and aware of the miracle that is growing inside me […]
Well, I’m posting this on Oaks Day 2013, so just about a year later. We certainly were up to some different antics last year!
Just gave the audio book Outliers a listen and thoroughly enjoyed it, just as I did The Tipping Point a few years ago. Malcolm Gladwell is really good at writing about really common sense things and making it interesting. I must say that the first chapter of this one was slow and drawn out, but […]
