Brew Day – 26Mar2017
This is my first brew since becoming once again an Indiana resident. This is also my first beer that I have use RO water with mineral additions rather than tap water.
The mineral additions were similar to what is recommended for an IPA.
Losing track of my water, instead of using the desired 6 gal to sparge I ended up using the remainder of the 10 gallons that I had purchased (6.6 gal sparge). This extra water contributed to a lot of boil overs. My final volume, however, ended up right around 5.25 gal in the fermenter.
Out of my normal rhythm with the new brew setup, I forgot to measure OG.
Tasting Notes
This turned out to be a beautiful pale ale. It was crystal clear, light, and delicious! There was just enough hops to it to let you know it was a pale ale, but it wasn’t overwhelming. This is the perfect pale ale to keep around during the summer months.
