Mom and Dad treated themselves to a month in Ft. Myers this year and we worked it out so the whole family could spent a long weekend together. We all enjoyed seafood, sunshine, and gorgeous sunsets each day. We enjoyed a trip down memory lane at Lovers Key. That is where Dan proposed to me roughly 3 years ago. We re-enacted the event for a photo op.
Another highlight was the dolphin tour in the sound. It was unbelievable how close these dolphins got time and time again. They were having a ball!
My other favorite stop was a bike tour of Sanibel Island. There are bike paths everywhere and we even enjoyed some wildlife watching in a nature preserve.
The highlight of the trip, however, was sharing news of the baby with the family. Again, everyone was ecstatic. We thought it was adorable that both of our moms had already purchased onesies for their future grandbaby. This will be one spoiled little one.
If anyone has the chance to visit the Ft. Myers area, I would recommend these food stops:
Food at Myers Beach: The Beached Whale
Sunset and Dinner on Captiva Island: The Mucky Duck
Breakfast on Sanibel Island: The Island Cow
Best key lime pie in the area: RC Otters, on Captiva Island
