Hailey @ 8 Months Old

image

Hailey has become much more willful in her 7th month. She’s learning how to express what she wants and what she doesn’t want to do. Crying has changed from a signal that something is wrong, to an indication that she wants something. The upside to this is that  nothing makes you feel better in the morning than seeing your little baby girl smile and reach for you because she wants to be held by you.

Car rides have become a little more difficult. She’s decided now that she is mobile, she does not like to sit still for very long. This includes in her car seat while we’re trying to drive somewhere. We’re getting more more used to the sound of a baby screaming in the backseat.

Hailey took a big road trip in her seventh month. We visited our friends Chris and Beth Wilson in Columbus, OH.  And we finally got to meet sweet little Reese Wilson. We had fun watching the two girls interact. Hailey learned from Reese how to stick out her tongue, and she’s been practicing ever since.

She loves all three of her bunnies.  Thank you, Great Grandma, Uncle Steve, and Grandma and Grandpa!

Month 7 was also the month of Hailey’s first tooth (4/25). The lower tooth on the right side finally poked through. We found it one night while feeding her her vegetables. She was gripping the spoon a little better than normal, so we look inside of her mouth and saw a little white protrusion on her lower gum. It’s hard to see, but it is in there.

We have discovered a ticklish spot on Hailey. Just below her collar bones on both sides. The slightest tickle in this area and she gives the cutest little baby laugh you have ever heard.

She seems to be developing a sense of rhythm. Now when she hears music she’ll bounce up and down dancing along.  She also wants to tap her hands on the tray of her high chair while she is eating. This has resulted in a few near food bowl disasters.

Her joy in the bathtub continues, and this week she even scooted herself forward in the tub to put her head under the running water.  She loved it!

In other firsts, Hailey made it to her first baseball game. It was a little chilly but she still seemed to have fun.

Hailey was quite the little southern belle for Derby.

On a road trip to Chicago, we were lucky enough to be able to stop in and see friends of ours Jeff and Lara and their son Jackson. Hailey and Jackson hit it off.
