This has been a fun Derby week for the Hart family. It is weeks like this that remind us how much this town as grown on us.
Elaine and Hailey headed to Dawn at the Downs Wednesday morning with the work crew, enjoying breakfast at Millionaires row and then watching the horses work out on the track. Too bad Hailey fell asleep right as the horses started doing their thing.
On Thursday, Hailey was the hit of the day care’s Derby parade through the hospital. Some may say it was the hat, but we know if was her charming personality 😉
Next, we enjoyed dressing Hailey up for Oaks in her pink frills. As a new mom, I am not ashamed to send my baby girl to day care all gussied up. Note: we were at least 30 minutes late due to an impromptu photo shoot in the front yard.
Finally, the Derby arrived, as did our friends Karen and Maya. We were so grateful for the visit! We had a laid-back gathering at the house, featuring some true Kentucky flavors: burgoo, derby pie, bourbon, bourbon, and more bourbon. Hailey cheered on the horses with Daddy and cheered for Orb’s victory.
The day after the Derby clearly calls for some couch time.
