Our little sweet heart is now 11 months old. Here is a look back at the previous month and all the things she can do.
Her attitude is really starting to show through. She’s developed a whole new arsenal of a little squinty eyed smiles and frowny faces.
Little baby snuggles. Hailey has started to give little hugs. She will lay her head down on your shoulder, wrap her arms around you and just press her body against yours. It’s the cutest thing ever.
Hailey took her first steps this month. Only a few steps, but we’re counting them. She was walking back and forth between Mom and Dad. She seemed to enjoy this new found method of motion. Although, she hasn’t quite mastered the art yet.
After some tentative first steps, Hailey has decided there’s a faster way to get around town. Walking has taken a back seat to crawling. And man, can this kid move. You put her down, and she is gone. She enjoys having you crawl behind, chasing her, saying “I’m going to get the baby”. Although, she hasn’t totally given up on walking.
She does little sumo squats and then stands straight up. She’s also learned how to pick up her favorite toys and lift them up with her. You’ll turn around and find her standing stationary (well, maybe wobbling a little) in the middle of the room, playing with her toys. She also enjoys cruising around coffee tables, chairs and anything else she can stand next to.
Hailey discovered two things this month: the lofted second story play room and the effects of gravity. Through the slits in the banister, she will toss her toys to the floor below. She seems to get a kick out of this. So far, we’ve managed not to get hit by any baby missiles. I’m sure she’ll figure that out soon to though.
Haley told her first trip up north, to Cable Wisconsin this month. She enjoyed some Gramps and Grandma CeCe time. She put her swim lessons to good use, splashing around in the lake. She also got to dip her little toes into the cold waters of Lake Superior (on a side trip to see an old college friend). It was also Hailey’s first driving lesson. On the way back to the cabin, Hailey took the wheel and had a blast “driving”. We may have a little speed demon on our hands.
