Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistlestop Cafe (Fannie Flagg)

I just read this one for the book club, and it was a fabulous read.  Anyone else I’ve mentioned this to has said how sad the book and movie are.  I beg to differ.  There are definitely some sad parts, but I think the book overall is inspiring, joyful, and insightful.  It’s a great window into the past, but it’s still taken in context of the present.  The movie follows the book very closely.  The endings differ, but they are in the same spirit.  I recommend either reading or watching this one.  Not sure that you need to do both since they are so similar.  Now I am craving some fried green tomatoes!
