Bumpdate – Week 19

I haven’t had a whole lot to say about the bump for a while, but I think this week has been a fun one as far a pregnancy goes.

  • I hugged Dan the other day and he noted with surprise and pride that the bump was the first thing that touched his body.  I think I’m in the “cute” pregnant phase where I’m noticeably pregnant but not yet uncomfortable.  I better enjoy it while I can!
  • I have started wearing maternity clothing more often than not.  It have been fun to shop for some new things and where clothes that feel good.  I may have already mentioned this in the past, but I’m enjoying it more and more.  I think I feel a shopping spree coming up….
  • I am sleeping better and not having to pee all the time (or maybe I’m just used to it now).  And I’m not constantly hungry as I was earlier on.  I get a bit of hearburn at night, but that could just be my body telling me not to binge on chocolate right before bed.
  • I am enjoying Dan’s instinctive reaction to becoming a father.  He is very focused on putting food on the table and providing shelter for our little one.  Literally.  Last weekend he took up turkey hunting and he is now talking about fishing fairly regularly.  Keep in mind that I have known Dan for almost 10 years, taken him Up North and to the lake at home, and never once has Dan even considered the possibility of fishing. I am really entertained by this!  Finally, Dan has plans to build a shed in our backyard.  That’s sort of like providing shelter, right?  We’ll see how these ambitious plans go.  Meanwhile, I have the urge to clean out every room in the house, which I hear is pretty typical.  Maybe I can at least make a dent in the goodwill pile that has been growing for the past 3 years.
  • Here’s the most exciting update: I think I am now feeling the baby move pretty regularly.  All you moms out there obviously know much better than I do at this point, but I think I can feel a little blip every now and then if I am still and not too distracted.
