1/3 to 1/2 lbs Burger patties (pick your favorite way to make them)
Sliced cheese
Hamburger Buns
BBQ sauce
6 white mushrooms (sliced)
Canola Oil
Salt
Pepper
1 Red Onion (sliced thin)
1 Red Bell Pepper (sliced thin)
2 tsp Sugar
1 Tbsp Balsamic Vinegar
2 cloves Garlic (chopped)
4-5 Basil leaves (chopped fine)
Olive Oil
Peppers and Onions
Heat about 1 Tbsp of oil in a pan until it is ready to saute.
Still on high heat, add the onions and peppers and sugar.
Salt and pepper the veggies.
Cook about 5 minutes, until the veggies are soft.
Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
Add the Balsamic and mix to cover the veggies.
Drop the heat to low and continue to cook for about 3 minutes, until the Balsamic starts to thicken.
Add about 1 Tbsp of Olive Oil, still on low heat and let cook another 4-5 minutes, until the coating on veggies thickens and starts.
Mushrooms
On a griddle or in a pan, heat about 1/2 Tbsp of Canola Oil over high heat.
Salt and pepper to taste.
Add Mushrooms and grill, turning throughout, until the mushrooms start to brown.
Burgers
Grill up your burgers up to your desired temp (I like medium rare).
During the last 1-2 minutes of cooking the burgers, toss the buns on the grill and toast lightly.
Serve
On the toasted buns, top your burger with cheese, peppers and onions, mushrooms and a little BBQ sauce.
Enjoy!
