Bumpdate – Weeks 25/26

Lot’s going on around the house and in my head about this baby girl the past couple of weeks.

First, we are more focused on the household preparations.  Dan did some garage sale-ing and picked up a changing table and a bouncy seat.  Mom gave us all of my old baby clothes.  They are so classic 80s and I love them.  Thanks, Mom!  I also got a lesson in how small newborns actually are by looking at those clothes.  Crazy!  We also have spent some time at Baby’s R Us, which is a pretty frightening experience in itself.

Second, I have been working out more since I have a trial gym membership.  Swimming and yoga have been my favorite ways to exercise lately, and I could feel the benefits immediately.  I feel more energetic and some of the discomfort I was just starting to feel has gone away.  I’ve even picked up some free weights.  Funny how you barely need any weight when you are carrying an extra 20 pounds as-is.  Anyways, I hope I can keep this up.

Finally, I am just in awe of the whole baby-making process.  There is a baby growing inside of me and it feels natural and healthy.  How do our bodies know how to grow life so well?  Her little body moves around and I can feel her more and more.  It’s just unreal.  And she is seeming more like a little person than just this smudgy alien looking picture in an ultrasound.  I am starting to get really excited about having a baby.  I think the hormones are doing their job. I know the lack of sleep, our inexperience as parents, and all the fears around the delivery process should be on my mind more, but those thoughts are slowly fading and the excitement is creeping in  I guess the female body knows how to prepare you for the baby.
