Bumpdate – Week 36

This is a down and dirty update for my preggo ladies out there who have told me I’m way too optimistic and am painting a very easy picture of pregnancy.  So if I were to peel back the joys of feeling a baby moving inside of me and learning how miraculous it is that the body can grow a baby, some of these annoyances would really get me down.  But these things are completely worth it to me to experience this whole baby-growing process.  That’s why I come across so positive.  I also had a lot of anxiety about pregnancy when we decided to have a baby, so I am just relieved that I avoided things like morning sickness and bed rest.

Anyways, here’s the junk I’m dealing with:

  • I have mentioned acid reflux before, but to clarify, about once a week I wake myself up at night because I have spit up in my mouth.  This is followed by a 3-5 minute coughing fit as I attempt to clear out the pipes without drinking so much water that I guarantee a repeat performance.  Yum!
  • I am plagued by sore feet. I have gained about 30-35 pounds and I am feeling it in my feet.  I am really picky about my footwear. Every morning I spend some time stretching my legs, ankles, and feet before I get out of bed.
  • Bodily output like it’s my job.  I pee every hour at least and I poop at least 5 times a day.  Now I still feel like I have to pee as soon as I’ve finished, so I’m getting used to this constant feeling of having to pee.  Baby Girl, I hope you are enjoying using my bladder as your pillow.
  • Now that Baby Girl has dropped, my pelvic bone is really sore.  I seem to do okay if I just keep moving.  Then my feet and pelvis seem to warm up.  But I tire so easily that I can’t always keep it going.

I hope this gives you some more realistic insight into my day-to-day.  I still feel lucky that I just have this to deal with.

Here are my metrics from my first weekly exam on 8/13: Dilation=0 cm, Station=-1 (baby dropped a bit), weight = 180 lb
