This is a little experiment to see if we can quickly and automatically share pictures of Hailey without having to email them one at a time or keep everything on facebook or the blog.
Setting up the shared picture folder
1) Sign up for an account. https://one.ubuntu.com/referrals/referee/2409727/
2) Download and install the app https://one.ubuntu.com/downloads/windows/
3) Send me the email address (facebook or send me an email) that you signed up with. I will share the Hailey folder with you.
4) Check your email. You’ll recieve a confirmation that the folder was shared with you. Open that email, and click on the link in the email to accept the folder share.
5) Open the Ubuntu One program (there should be a small orange “U” in your system icon tray, an icon added to your Desktop, or you can launch it from the Programs folder), and check box (under “Sync Locally) next to the folder “Haileys Shared Pictures”.
6) Grab some coffee. It will take a couple of minutes for everything to download. After giving it some time, check your personal file folder (C:/users/”your name”) and there should be a new folder called “Haileys Shared Pictures”. All of the pictures should populate into that folder and you will have access to everything we put in it.
Using the shared folder
You will be able to use this folder just like any other folder on your computer. If you save a picture (or any file for that matter) in the shared folder, it will also share that picture with me. The same holds true for any time I save a new picture to the folder on my computer. It will update the shared folder, and you will get a copy of any new pictures in the folder on your computer.
Any time you have new pictures that you want to share, just drop them into the Haileys Shared Pictures folder. You can create sub-folders also.
What not to do
You should not remove (cut, delete, move, etc) pictures from this folder. Doing so could cause them to be deleted from my computer also. Remember, only add pictures to the folder, don’t take them out.
You should not try to move the folder from the created location (C:/users/”your name”/Haileys Shared Pictures). You can create shortcuts to this folder, but do not move it.
You will “only” have 5.5Gig of space for these pictures. Which shouldn’t be a problem unless someone tries to add a 4Gig video. Lets keep the folder just pictures for now.
