Cake Decorating

A couple of years ago, my mother-in-law Faye gave me some cake decorating supplies for Christmas.  She showed me some basics, but they didn’t really stick.  So when my friend Lucy convinced me to sign up for a cake decorating class, I was game.  I was surprised to find how actually making the decorations is more of a craft than an art.  There are simple steps for each tip and if you do it right and make the icing right, you can actually pull it off.  Designing a cake, however, is definitely an art.  That will take some practice, but I will have years and years to work on that.  Here are some of my creations so far.

Go-Live Celebration Cake. Eddie helped a bit with this one, hence the irregular shape.

Birthday Cake for Faye. Still working on my writing skills.

Final Project for the Class. This is by far my best creation to date.
