Christmas Eve 2012

Hailey’s first Christmas Eve started out with a Hart family tradition – last minute shopping.  Hailey and Daddy spent the day at the malls, picking out a few more gifts.

Later that night, we went to the Christmas Eve service at St. John Lutheran.  Hailey managed to sleep through most of it.  The few moments that she was awake, she was a perfect little baby girl.  She received lots of compliments on her beautiful Christmas dress.

On the way home from church, we took a small detour to drive through a park with a light display.  This was for Hailey, of course (even though she was sleeping).

We made our way home and had a small snack-food dinner.  We listened to Christmas songs and enjoyed our first Christmas Eve as a family.  We couldn’t help but take a few pictures.

While Santa visited the house early during the day on Christmas Eve, we did get a surprise visit that night.  Unfortunately, the Grinch dropped by and left the stomach flu behind for Elaine.  With Mom out of commission,  Hailey duties fell upon Daddy for the night.

Apparently, Hailey wanted to open gifts early Christmas morning, waking up before 5am and refusing to go back to sleep.  Daddy finally calmed her down, and got her to fall asleep on his chest.  So, while it was a rough night it was offset slightly when I got to wake up Christmas morning with my little angel sleeping on my chest.

It wasn’t a perfect Christmas Eve, but it was the first for our family and that makes it special.

Merry Christmas to our friends and loved ones!
